Intermediate Flying Pole & Lyra Mix (75 minute lesson)

This intermediate-level aerial class combines Flying Pole and Lyra (Aerial Hoop), designed for students who want to refine their skills, build strength, and explore sequences across both apparatuses. Students will work on spins, climbs, transitions, balances, and intermediate tricks, with options to tailor progressions and regressions to individual abilities.

Prerequisites (in either apparatus):
✔ Flying Pole: Minimum 3 months static or flying pole experience; ability to invert unassisted; adequate core, upper body, and grip strength for moves like shoulder mounts, basic handsprings, and crucifix; aerial confidence with off-the-ground skills.
✔ Lyra: 6+ months consistent aerial hoop training; ability to mount independently using Basket, Straddle, or Side mounts; ability to hang from the top bar and pull into the hoop.

If you only meet the prerequisites for one apparatus, that’s fine — you will have the strength and foundation to learn the other. Regressions and progressions will be provided to suit individual abilities.

Skills You Will Learn:

• Flying Pole: Spins, climbs, transitions, shoulder mounts, basic tricks

• Lyra: Star hangs & balances, elbow & knee hangs, intermediate drops & transitions, sloth/reverse/windmill rolls

Class Notes:

• Flying Pole: Thick socks and long tights are highly recommended to prevent burns; wear light, form-fitting clothing and a tight-fitting sports bra; avoid zippers and jewellery

• Lyra: Comfortable clothing that allows full range of motion
